What does the price include?
- The charter fee covers the cost of the yacht, along with the crew and all onboard water toys. VAT may apply in certain countries and is charged separately. APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers onboard expenses and is also an additional charge. Crew gratuity is not included, optional, and left to your discretion.
What is the APA?
- The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) covers the running expenses during your charter, such as fuel, food, drinks, and other costs. The Captain will monitor and provide updates on the spending throughout the trip. If the APA is exceeded, you'll need to settle the additional amount at the end of the charter. If there is any remaining balance, it will either be refunded to you or can be applied towards the crew's gratuity.
What is the itinerary?
- The itinerary is tailored to your preferences (and the weather). Your broker will offer a suggested route, and once onboard, the Captain will finalise the plan based on your preferences and current weather conditions.
There are only two of us, why is it not cheaper?
- You are chartering the whole yacht, the price is not dependant on the number of guests.
When is High Season?
- For the Mediterranean, high season is July & August. June & September is mid season and all other months are low season.
For the Caribbean, high season is Christmas and New Year. All other months are low season.
Can I hire additional water toys?
- Of course! Dependant on the toy and location, will depend on the price. Please note, in order to use a jet ski in certain countries, you need a boat license.
If I have a budget under 100,000, should I charter a motor yacht or catamaran?
- We would suggest a catamaran as you would be chartering the higher end catamarans compared to the lower end motor yachts. But we will always send you the best options based on your preferences.
When is the best time to book?
- The earlier you book, the better! Most charters are booked a minimum of 6 months in advance. If you would like the choice of the yachts, the sooner you plan, the greater the chance of getting your preferred option!
What's the process of booking a charter?
- After selecting a yacht, we are legally required to perform a KYC check. Once completed, a contract will be prepared for signatures. After signing, a 50% deposit of the charter fee is required. The remaining 50%, plus VAT and APA is due 4-6 weeks before the charter begins.
What does the KYC check mean?
- A KYC (Know Your Customer) check verifies your identity and ensures compliance with anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism regulations.
What's the difference between a crewed boat and a skippered boat?
- A crewed boat is not comparable to a skippered boat!
Skippers are freelance, paid by you, and may not know the boat as well as a captain. Everything is additional on a skippered boat, including basic supplies and water toys. If you have a hostess or chef, they will only prepare a continental style breakfast and a light lunch or dinner.
On a crewed boat, the crew is employed and paid by the owner. Water toys are included, and the chef is qualified to provide meals based on your preferences. *Additional water toys incur extra costs*
How does the pricing work for a yacht?
- The yachts price is set by the owner and management company. The quoted price will be the same as any other broker's, with no additional commission added.
Why have I been sent different yachts from another broker?
- We will send you the best yachts based on your criteria, only recommending ones we have personally visited. We won't suggest yachts with poor reputations. If you've received options from another broker, feel free to share them, and we will provide our honest and professional opinion.
How can I pay for my charter?
- We prefer bank transfers since your money is placed in an escrow account, ensuring your protection. Card payments are accepted only in exceptional cases and have high transaction fees with a limit of €20,000 per transaction. If you do not pass the KYC check, credit card payments are not allowed.
What is the best bank to use for bank transfers? And who pays the bank fees?
- WISE is the best bank for foreign currency transfers, offering the best exchange rates. It's free to join!
All bank fees are covered by the charterer.
